Na-Me-Res Traditional Outdoor PowWow, Fort York, Toronto

Native Men’s Residence Traditional PowWow is held to recognize National Aboriginal History Month. The event features traditional dancing, drumming, feast, giveaway, kids’ area, and craft vendors. More than one hundred traditional dancers participate. The day begins with a sunrise ceremony and the Grand Entry takes place at 12 noon.

Indigenous Arts Festival

The Indigenous Arts Festival is a celebration of traditional and contemporary Indigenous music, dance, theatre, storytelling, film, crafts and food. On June 21 and 22, Indigenous Education Days feature traditional drumming, dancing and storytelling offered free to schools. In partnership with APTN, Fort York hosts the Indigenous Day Live concert, broadcast and Na-Me-Res Annual Traditional Pow Wow on June 23. Mainstage performances in partnership with the Red Ride Tour occur on June 24.

The Indigenous Arts Festival is produced by the City of Toronto in partnership with the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation. The Festival is presented by TD with financial support from the Government of Canada, Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, Tim Hortons and OLG. Leslie McCue, Mississauga, Ojibway from the Curve Lake First Nation, is the Artistic Curator for the 2018 Festival.
