Thai AirAsia has defended its policy on Monday after a video clip showing a flight attendant asking two passengers to get off the plane went viral.
The budget airline said in a statement on Monday the flight shown in the clip was FD3187 from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Bangkok on Sunday.
In the 5-minute clip, two men were criticising a flight attendant after they were asked to leave for bringing with them baggage of more than seven kilogrammes.
When the stewardess told them the luggage was too large and had to be checked in, they threw the baggage on the runway.
The stewardess then explained to them the rules and reasons behind them which the two men ignored.
Finally, they were asked to leave the plane.
The incident delayed the flight by half an hour.
Thai AirAsia said in the statement its staff had complied with No. 54 regulation of the Civil Aviation Department, which stipulates that in the event a passenger causes disturbances, threatens or insults the crew, they will be asked to leave the airplane and denied the service.
The two passengers were rescheduled on the next flight with no extra charge, the statement said.
Thai AirAsia allows each passenger one piece of cabin baggage and one laptop bag or one handbag on-board.
The main cabin baggage shall not exceed 56cm x 36cm x 23cm and does not weigh more than 7kg, according to its website.
