Mid-Autumn Festival at Harbourfront Centre, Toronto

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or the Lantern Festival, is celebrated annually throughout East Asia. Tet Trung Thu, as it is known in Vietnam, is the second most important holiday (Lunar New Year being the most important) and occurs around the September equinox. Traditionally, families gather round to celebrate the end of the summer harvest by eating moon cakes, lighting lanterns, and gazing at the moon and stars. The festival is also a wonderful occasion for children to stay up late and play outside at night amongst family and friends.
