Cebu Pacific to start flying to Riyadh, holds seat sale

CEBU Pacific will launch thrice weekly non-stop flights to Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia starting Oct. 1, 2014. It will be the only low-cost carrier flying between the Philippines and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Riyadh service is scheduled to depart Manila at 5:05 p.m. every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Riyadh at 10:35pm. The return flight will depart Riyadh at 12:45am every Monday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving in Manila at 3:40pm.

Tom of Finland stamps for sale on September

Itella Posti Oy will release the Tom of Finland stamp sheet on Monday, September 8. The stamps have been the talk of the town both in Finland and internationally. The sheet has been available for preorder from Posti’s online shop since April. The stamps have raised immense interest and, therefore, stamp buyers should act quickly before the edition is sold out. Additionally, a Tom of Finland gift set will become available in Posti outlets and Posti’s online shop, including three postcards as well as the stamp sheet.

Ecuador gives details of new digital currency

The Ecuadorean government has released more details of its plans to create what it calls the world’s first digital currency issued by a central bank.

Central bank officials say the electronic money, as yet unnamed, will start circulating in December.

The new money will be used alongside the existing currency in Ecuador, the US dollar.

President Rafael Correa has said the digital currency will help those who cannot afford traditional banking.

Central bank officials say the electronic money will be used to pay government bureaucrats in a “hygienic manner”.
