Hostages Taken in Sydney Cafe, Islamic Flag Reportedly Flown

A group of people has been taken hostage in a cafe in Sydney’s Martin Place and forced to hold a black flag with Arabic writing against the window, Australian television networks reported.

About half a dozen armed officers wearing helmets and body armor were stationed on the corner of Elizabeth Street and Martin Place, about 20 meters from the Lindt cafe entrance. Pedestrians were blocked from the CBD square, which houses offices for Macquarie Group, the central bank and Westpac Banking Corp.

Philippine-based Cebu Pacific plans Manila-Honolulu route in 2015

Philippines-based, low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific plans to launch a three-times-a-week Manila to Honolulu flight in the middle of 2015, according to Republic of the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs.

Cebu Air officials spoke with Philippine Consul General to Honolulu Gina A. Jamoralin on Nov. 18, and she said she hoped the new flight would open up more opportunities for business and tourism trips for Filipinos and Americans, according to a release.

Reopening of Kuala Lumpur-London route ‘definitely on the cards’: AirAsia CEO

CEO Tony Fernandes said on Twitter on Wednesday that he will be discussing the possibility of re-opening of the air route with London Mayor Boris Johnson next week.

SINGAPORE: AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes revealed on Wednesday (Nov 26) that plans to re-open the Kuala Lumpur-London air route are “definitely on the cards”, having ended its long-haul flights to United Kingdom in 2012.
