Turban Up 2016

Come out and enjoy a day full of cultural festivities, learning about the Sikh community in the diverse GTA and breaking down barriers. See how you look in a turban, enjoy a community kitchen meal which is integral to the Sikh Culture. Watch a martial arts demonstration and enjoy art created by Indo-Canadian youth focusing on the integration of cultures in Canada. All for the price of your time.

Over a gorgeous Saturday afternoon the middle of downtown Toronto is bathed in colour. Inside Dundas Square, people of every hue and stripe walk about resplendently in freshly tied turbans — brilliant pinks, deep purples, powder blue and bright fuchsia.

On this day “Turban Up” has packed Dundas Square as people watch live performances of traditional Sikh swordsmanship, listen to music and eat free meals — the compulsory Sikh “langar” served to everybody in the community. Then, there are the turbans.
