MANILA – Gokongwei-led Cebu Pacific will begin operating direct Cebu-Tokyo flights by next year.
The budget airline said the flights will be offered four times a week every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday starting March 26, 2015.
The first flight from Cebu will depart at 5:55 a.m., and arrive in Tokyo at 11:20 a.m. The earliest return flight will depart Tokyo at 12:05 p.m., and arrive in Cebu at 4:25 p.m.
The airline said the service is aimed at boosting Japanese tourist arrivals into Cebu.
“Cebu Pacific has a good track record of stimulating travel because of its low fares and network. With this direct access to Cebu, we hope more Japanese tourists will visit the Philippines, just in time for the Visit the Philippines Year 2015,” said Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific’s vice president for marketing and distribution.
Cebu Pacific is offering introductory promo fares for the Cebu-Tokyo route starting at P2,488, for travel from March 26 to May 31, 2015.
The airline is also the only low-cost carrier operating this route, with fares up to 60 percent lower compared to other airlines.
Cebu Pacific flies to 25 Philippine and international destinations out of Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
In March this year, the airline launched direct flights from Manila to Tokyo (Narita) and Nagoya. It also flies from Manila to Osaka.
