Citilink to Fly to Papua From First Half of 2015

Jakarta. Citilink Indonesia, which is Garuda Indonesia’s low-cost subsidiary, will serve flights to Papua starting in the first half of next year as part of the company’s route expansion.

The airline had acquired the permit to serve the Jakarta-Jayapura route in line with its aircraft expansion, said Benny S. Butarbutar, vice president for corporate communications at Citilink.

“The eastern part of Indonesia is one of our business expansion goals in the future. Our targeted cities include Palu, Manado and Jayapura,” Benny said on Thursday.

Citilink will have 32 Airbus A320 aircraft by the end of this year. The airline competes with privately run Lion Air at home and abroad, against Southeast Asian low-cost airlines such as Malaysia’s AirAsia.
