There are 11 teams competing on this season’s Amazing Race Canada, including Shahla Kara and Nabeela Barday. Here’s a quick look at who they are, including their pet peeves about each other. You can go to ctv.ca/TheAmazingRaceCanada for more information.
Sukhi Atwal and Jinder Atwal
The sister and brother are from Terrace, B.C. Sukhi, 32, an entrepreneur, says her pet peeve is when Jinder tells her to slow down and Jinder, 26, also an entrepreneur, says his is “when she tells me to do something over and over again.”
Alain Chanoine and Audrey Tousignant-Maurice
Actor Chanoine, 32, and his girlfriend Tousignant-Maurice, 31, a real estate broker, live in St-Hubert, Que. He says she’s “always losing her cool” and she says he’s stubborn.
Pierre Forget and Michel Forget
The 42-year-old twin brothers are from Terrebonne, Que., where they co-run the family meat-packing company. Pierre describes Michel as a “loose cannon sometimes” and Michel says Pierre is “Mr. Perfect.”
Cormac Foster and Nicole Foster
The mother and son are from Winnipeg. Engineering student Cormac, 19, says his mom “gets very anxious in certain situations, instead of staying calm.” Nicole, 39, a director of resident services, says Cormac procrastinates all the time and is always late.
Rex Harrington and Bob Hope
Harrington, 51, is likely the most famous contender on this season of the Race as former principal dancer and artist in residence with the National Ballet of Canada. He and fiancé Hope, 47, a dental consultant, live in Ashburn, Ont. Harrington says Hope is too detail-oriented and Hope says Harrington “loses things.”
Mickey Henry and Pete Schmalz
The best friends are from Muskoka. Henry, 24, operates What Wake Park in Seguin, Ont., and Schmalz, 24, is a deck installer in Parry Sound. Henry says Schmalz steals his jokes and Schmalz says Henry “sings songs he doesn’t know the words to over and over again.”
Jen King and Shawn King
The married Maritimers live in Halifax, where Jen, 40 is a holistic nutrition practitioner and Shawn, 41, is president of an advertising agency. Jen says Shawn is “a little obsessive” and Shawn says Jen “gets ‘hangry’ (hungry and angry) and everything has to stop until she eats.”
Natalie Spooner and Meaghan Mikkelson
The pair won Olympic gold with the national women’s hockey team in Sochi, Russia (Mikkelson with a broken hand). Spooner, 23, from Scarborough, says sometimes Mikkelson “likes too much control.” Mikkelson, 29, who lives in Calgary, says Spooner “does not always pay attention to details.”
Ryan Steele and Rob Goddard
Steele, 36, and Goddard, 24, work together in a bar in Vancouver. Steele is also a sketch comic and Goddard was Mr. Gay Canada. Goddard says Steele “takes things too far sometimes to embarrass me,” while Steele says his pet peeve is when Goddard tries to be funny.
Laura Takahashi and Jackie Skinner
The married couple lives in Toronto where Takahashi, 28, is in media development and Skinner, 31, is a musician. Takahashi’s pet peeve is that Skinner “vacuums before she eats breakfast” (which we doubt will be an issue during the Race), while Skinner says Takahashi “leaves dried up contacts all over the house” (ditto).
