Chiang is known for introducing America to authentic Chinese food with the opening of her internationally renowned restaurant, The Mandarin, in 1961.

Hong Kong-born, San Francisco-based filmmaker Wayne Wang has a rich filmography that includes independent, critically acclaimed and popular mainstream films such as Chan is Missing (1982); the classic The Joy Luck Club (1993), adapted from the novel by Amy Tan; the multi-award winning Smoke (1995); and box office hits Maid in Manhattan (2002, starring Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes) and Last Holiday (2006, starring Queen Latifah). Soul of a Banquet is his 20th feature film credit as a director.
