AirAsia Zest, Cebu Pacific to increase flights for foreign destinations

MANILA – As the summer travel season peaks, two Philippine budget airlines have asked the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) for flight entitlements to two separate destinations outside the country.

In a filing with the CAB, Air Asia Zest has requested for additional entitlements to Bangkok, particularly 540 unused seats that had been assigned to PAL Express.

Manila and Bangkok in 2012 agreed to raise weekly seat entitlements to 6,880 from the previous 5,440.

In a separate filing, Cebu Pacific asked CAB for designation as official Philippine carrier to New Zealand and for the allocation of seven flights a week.

Last March, the Philippines and New Zealand agreed to increase weekly flights to 21 for both sides from the current three. Both countries also agreed to have unlimited flights to points outside Manila.
