Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) has launched a new frequent flyer programme.

Called GetGo, the programme allows passengers to earn points when flying with CEB then redeem them for free flights.

Members who are already signed up for CEB Club, the airline’s previous membership programme, are automatically enrolled in GetGo.

“In 19 years, we have been fortunate enough to develop a solid base of frequent flyers, with 1.4 million CEB Club members and 630 corporate accounts. We will be able to serve them with GetGo. Now, our frequent fliers can get rewarded with more benefits and free flights,” said CEB’s president & CEO Lance Gokongwei.

Nik Laming, the new general manager for GetGo, added; “GetGo encourages members to ‘get points and go places’. We will be introducing more partners in the coming months, so there will be more opportunities to earn points, and fly with Cebu Pacific for free.”

Laming arrives at CEB with 15 years of experience in the loyalty sector. He was previously responsible for the Asian operations f Aimia, a loyalty management company.

U.S. tourists arrested for carving initials into Rome Colosseum

Two American tourists have been ordered to appear in court for carving their names into the Colosseum, the latest act of vandalism sustained by the ancient monument at the hands of tourists.

A captain with the Carabinieri, Italy’s national military police, said Monday two tourists from California, ages 21 and 25, were picked up Saturday for carving their names eight centimetres high into an upper level of the Colosseum. They were freed later but will face trial for aggravated damage to a monument.

Lorenzo Iacobone said the young women apologized for the vandalism, but he said such acts “are extremely serious, and no one considers the damage they are creating.”

A Russian tourist who carved his initials into the Colosseum in November was handed a four-month suspended sentence and a fine of 20,000 euros ($27,355 Cdn).

Air Canada blamed for carry-on chaos, delays, lost valuables

Air Canada is under fire for creating chaos as a result of too many passenger carry-on bags and not enough room to store them, resulting in delayed flights, harried staff and lost valuables.

“Right now the [checked baggage] charges are high from the airline, so passengers are carrying more baggage with them to save the money,” said Air Canada customer Vishal Shah, who said his carry-on bag was lost by the airline last month.

German city uses water-repellent paint to splash public urinators with their own pee

It’s an unfortunate truth that in neighbourhoods where bars, nightclubs, or even daytime street festivals can be found, so too can people stumbling around after last call — with very full bladders.

Inhibitions numbed, drunk revellers have been known to urinate in bushes, on sidewalks, behind back-alley dumpsters, and even on the hoods of cars (as some of us have come to learn the hard way.)

Simply put, public urination is a huge and rather disgusting problem for many cities.

Yet, aside from increasing fines for those who get caught in the act, not a lot of progress has been made in terms of stopping offenders.
