Manila: The European Commission (EC), which has allowed planes of Philippine air operators to travel to Europe, will assess the safety of flights that are still blacklisted, a senior officials said, adding this will boost airline revenues, Philippine tourism, including code-sharing arrangements of Philippine-registered airlines and international carriers that ferry overseas Filipino workers worldwide.

Melissa Mendez kicked off plane for ‘punching’ passenger, flight attendants
MANILA, Philippines – Actress Melissa Mendez was recently offloaded from a flight to Mindanao on Friday, March 20, according to a series of Instagram posts from model and Philippine rugby team member Andrew Wolff.
According to Wolff’s story, he and a friend were aboard a Cebu Pacific flight to Mindanao. However, Filipina actress Melissa Mendez, who according to Wolff “smelled like a beer brewery,” sat in the seats reserved for Wolff and his friend and refused to leave, saying that she was a famous star from before.

Langkawi to be AirAsia’s next international hub
AirAsia plans to make the Langkawi airport its next international hub by generating at least one million passengers.
AirAsia Group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the plan is expected to take off in four months time with the airline deploying more crew and pilots to be based in Langkawi.
“We estimate that we can put five planes here and generate between a million and 1.5 million passengers very quickly, something unheard of in Langkawi before,” he added.

Long-delayed NokScoot set for May launch
After repeated hold-ups, NokScoot, Thailand’s second long-haul low-cost carrier, is finally ready to start flying in May.
Tickets for scheduled service went on sale online late last week for two initial routes, from NokScoot’s base at Don Mueang airport to Incheon in South Korea and Nanjing in China.
Air Asia passengers wait for refunds after Melbourne route canned
It could take another two months for passengers hit by the cancellation of AirAsia flights between Melbourne and Bali to be refunded.
The budget airline’s Indonesia AirAsia X subsidiary was due to begin flying the holiday route from Boxing Day, but failed to secure an air operator’s certificate from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
It has now received the all clear from CASA and will start flying on March 18, but passengers affected by the cancellation have been frustrated in their attempts to secure a refund.
