There are three ways to get to Tangier from Asilah and the best way is to ride a grand taxi.
1) by train, 16 Dhs/seat
The train is clean but you can expect it to come 40 minutes behind schedule.
Asilah train station is away from the town. You need to walk half an hour to get there or take a petit taxi(10 Dhs). The road condition is not bad but the section near the train station can be dusty due to some construction work going on as of November 2016.
Tangier Ville train station is about 3km from Medina. A petit taxi will cost you at least 15 Dhs.
2) by bus, 8 Dhs/person
I couldn’t find any buses. There’s a sign pointed the bus station to the middle of nowhere where there is a muddy road leading to. Some vans stopped by the main road though.
3) by grand taxi, 20 Dhs/seat
Clean Volkswagen taxis. No extra charge for baggage. Wait until full to depart.
The trip takes about an hour and there’s some nice view to enjoy on the right side of the road.
In Asilah, the grand taxi station for Tangier is located just above Mosquée Hassan II on the road Avenue Mauritanie between the mosque and the market.
In Tangier, the grand taxi station is just north of the main bus station(but CTM’s own station) from where a petit taxi to Medina shall cost about 10 Dhs.
