Ice Cream Making – Memory Park
10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Help make ice cream the old fashion way using a manual ice cream maker. Visitors will be able to sample this delicious velvety smooth ice cream.
Milkshake Making – Learning Centre (ongoing)
Step back in time to a 1950s style Soda fountain Shop and learn about the history of milkshakes. Discover how this drink soon became one of the most popular drinks of choice for the young and young at heart. Plus, get the scoop on scoops and discover how the ice cream scoop has changed over time.
Ice Cream Cone Cake – Demonstration Kitchen (ongoing)
Want a fun and creative way to use those ice cream cones? Come sample a delicious mini ice cream cone cake in our demonstration kitchen. Join museum staff as they prepare this little tasty treat. Plus, learn about the ice cream cone’s history and discover the ingredients used to make one.
Dairy Farmers of Ontario – From Cow to Cone – Small Tent Beside the Dairy Barn (ongoing)
Find out how much milk a cow produces each day, and how much of that milk is cream. How many ice cream cones does that make? The quantities are truly amazing! You can even practice your milking technique on the museum’s wooden cow.
Meet a Local Beekeeper – Near Admission Booth (ongoing)
A local beekeeper will be on site to give visitors the buzz about honeybees. Honey will be available to buy – cash only.
Monkey Rock Music Performance Memory Park 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Ottawa’s own Monkey Rock Music will be on site to give a rockin’ performance for kids and their families. This show is not to be missed and 100% fun. Singing along is encouraged.
Cream Separation Tent by Sheep Field 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
On average, cow’s milk contains 4% fat, 3% protein, 5% lactose, 1% minerals, and 87% water. Have you ever wondered how your local dairy produces 2% milk or 35% whipping cream? Learn about the separation of milk and cream while turning the crank of a centrifugal cream separator.

Join our guides to make a fun and creative paper ice cream cone craft to take home.
Family Storytime
Children and their families are the guest readers! Visitors are invited to read farm books and ice cream stories to all.

Enjoy a tour through the fields of the Central Experimental Farm on the Tally-Ho wagon pulled by the dynamic duo, Ted and Merrill, the Museum’s Clydesdale horses.
