CTM is the most reliable coach company in Morocco. CTM Tetouan bus station is conveniently located just below the city centre which means it’s closer to town than the bus station other bus companies use.
If you only have a few hours to spend in Tetouan, you can check in your baggage early and wander around without the burden of your luggage as your baggage will be weighed, charged, tagged and loaded to your bus by CTM staff. They will handle everything, you just need to pay the fee which is 5 Dhs for 15kg. The compensation for lost luggage is only 100 Dhs, so it’s an good idea to keep valuables with you. Although the chance to lose your luggage by CTM is very slim.
You don’t have to book tickets in advance as there’s usually some seats empty. The fare is 25 Dhs for the Tetouan-Chefchaouen trip.
The waiting room is spacious with TV, power outlets and free toilets. But there is no wi-fi here and the TV broadcasts news in Arabic only. Many TV commercials features charming women showing off their long silky hair.
CTM uses Volvo buses and they are cleaner and newer than buses used by many smaller bus companies.
Along the road, some villagers waved at the bus driver and try to get on, but the driver refused to take additional passengers although there are seats empty.
The view along the route is very beautiful. You can see many mountains and several dams along a river.
Because it’s rainy and some section of the road is under maintenance, the bus arrived at Chefchaouen slightly behind schedule.
CTM uses the same bus station as all other bus companies in Chefchaouen.
The bus station is not far from the medina but since the bus station is located deep down the hill, you may not want to walk all the way up.
There are small blue taxi waiting outside the bus station. The taxi I took was shared by threes guest and we each paid our own fare. The fee to medina should be around 10 Dhs. I needed to travel to Ras El Ma which is the furthest point of the medina and the driver charged me 15 Dhs.
