Bike? Check. Shoes? Check. Sunblock? Check!
The World Naked Bike Ride is happening in Toronto June 13 and besides the above three things, there’s not much else you need to bring to participate.
The ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and is a protest against oil dependency.
Here are some tips from the World Naked Bike Ride website that might convince you to strips down and cycle:
1. Nudity isn’t required to participate and all rides around the world are clothing optional.
2. Creativity and decoration of bikes and bodies is strongly encouraged. If you have body paints, bring them along. Leaves and other greenery are also useful for draping or twisting around the body. Lipstick is also a good choice for scrawling messages on your skin.
3. No one is excluded or discriminated against based on levels of clothing, body paint or anything else.
4. People of all ages, sizes, builds and appearances ride on World Naked Bike Ride; children are allowed to participate as the ride is designed to be family friendly.
5. Most riders find it exhilarating, liberating, empowering… and downright fun!
If you wish to bare it all on your bike, meet at Coronation Park, south of the CNE’s Princes Gate, at noon, June 13. The ride starts at 1 p.m. and travels through the downtown core, ending at the Jack Layton Memorial Ferry Docks.
