The Mon Sheong Foundation is the largest Chinese-focused charity in Canada. It is dedicated to the promotion of Chinese culture, heritage, language and philosophy through caring for the elderly, encouraging the young and providing programs and services in response to the needs of our communities. The Foundation has three state of the art long-term care facilities located in Toronto, Scarborough and Richmond Hill. In addition to long-term care, adult day care programs are provided as well a Chinese school, providing classes taught in Cantonese and Mandarin serving children aged 3 and above, and a youth group, founded in 1969. Last year more than 20,000 people benefited from the Mon Sheong Foundation in the GTA. http://www.monsheong.org
The Mon Sheong Foundation (MSF) is celebrating its 50th year of serving the Chinese community of the GTA with the Forever Yonge Relay – a cross-city event through Downtown Toronto, Thornhill, and Richmond Hill. This one-of-a-kind event will involve participants in walking, jogging, biking and other forms of transportation to complete the 30 km relay along Yonge Street, the longest street in Canada, chosen for its representation of “longevity” and “history”.
In Chinese, “passing the torch” is often used to describe the passing of knowledge from one generation to another, a philosophy that is reflected in the MSF mission, “Caring for the Elderly and Nurturing the Young”.
