Founded in Toronto in 2014, “Ritual” is now available in urban areas in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, Boston, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
People can order food or coffee in the area through a smartphone app, using a credit card to pay, then go to the establishment, walk up to the counter and grab their goods without waiting in line.
When you sign up with an INVITE CODE(my invite code: WEI45391) you get $10 credit for your first two orders($5 each order). You earn points by inviting friends, visiting a new restaurant and participating varies activities. Points you earn can be converted into credit to spend on your meals.
That’s not all. Ritual runs varies promotions from time to time, for example a current promotion is for APPLE PAY users to get 50% OFF.
Another time-limited promotion called “Food is King” provides up to a $15 credit for any Toronto resident who uses “Ritual” app to order food from one of 40 participating business that are located in the King Street pilot area.
The introduction of the promotion comes amid criticism from some restaurant owners, who say that the pilot project to prioritize streetcars between Bathurst and Jarvis streets has negatively impacted their business.
“This is meant to promote people patronizing these businesses. It is designed to encourage more foot traffic on King Street and to drive incremental purchases to restaurants and food service establishments within the pilot area,” Mayor John Tory said in announcing the promotion.
Search “Food is King” in the app for participating restaurants. The promotion is running now until March 4.
