Train Travel in Morocco: Rabat – Asilah Rail Travel Experience with ONCF

Rabat Ville Train Station
Rabat Ville Train Station is very modern with escalators and free toilets. The restrooms are located on the first floor(above the ground floor). The ground floor has a restaurant and three banks that can exchange foreign currency. The ticketing counters, departures and arrivals are all underground.




There ticketing machines too although they don’t take foreign bank cards or paper bills. You need coins to complete transactions on those machines.
Free Wi-Fi
Free Wi-Fi is available at Rabat Ville train station. You only need to watch a 10-second video commercial before you can start surfing the Internet at good speed.

There are no seats in the train station. You have to go to a restaurant or enter the train platform to get a seat.

ONCF second-class seats
A second-class seat costs 88 dirham for the journey between Rabat and Asilah. The trip was supposed to be less than 3 hours but ended up 40 minutes late.

You can take any seat on a second-class train. The seats are comfortable with large leg room.

The train was almost full when it departed from Rabat, but became quite empty after a few stops. Most passengers used it for city-suburb transportation as if it’s a subway.

Rabat Ville Train Station is in the heart of the city. Asilah train station is a 30-minute walk or a 10-dirham petit taxi ride to the town.
