Waimea Bay Beach Park

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Beautiful, deeply set with turquoise waters and a wide white-sand beach almost 1500 ft long, Waimea Bay was sacred to the ancient Hawaiians. Waimea Bay’s mood changes with the seasons – as tranquil as a lake in summer, then savage with high surf and mean rips in winter. The huge north swells bring out crowds of spectators who throng to watch surfers perform their near-suicidal feats on waves over 30 ft.

How to get there:

From Ala Moana, take Bus No 52 (“Circle Island”)

Downtown Honolulu

Honolulu’s Chinatown seems nicer than Toronto’s any Chinatown.  However, I only saw small businesses there and the prices are usually higher than those in Toronto.

In downtown Toronto’s main Chinatown, there are at least 10 bank branches have Chinese bank name outside and provide full Chinese services. There are also foreign exchange and all kinds of other services in Toronto’s Chinatown, instead of only restaurants, food market and small shops.

Waikiki Beach

I took a walk along the beach this morning and took some pictures.

People get up very early in Hawaii. It’s the best time to jog or do other outdoor excercises because it’s relatively cool and the sun is not strong.

A gay store, maybe the only one in Hawaii

I accidently found the gay store at Kapahulu Avenue and Lemon Road. They sell underwear, sex lubes, gay porn magazines those gay stuff. The casher’s Asian, probably Japanese. The most famous gay bar Hula’s is located on the second floor of the same hotel building.
